National Palace Museum (Almost)

Yesterday we set out for the National Palace Museum, a Taipei must-see. We skipped the taxi and thought it would be fun to take the subway and then walk. This did not turn out to be our best idea.  For whatever reason (i.e. we read all the signs wrong), it took us 8 elevator rides to get down two levels to the subway.

All seemed worth it, though, when we got off the subway and started the walk to the museum through a cute neighborhood we hadn't visited yet. Fifeteen minutes later we realized we had forgotten one thing - Taipei is really hot. Five minutes later, museum not in sight and Scott far from not sweating, we pulled the plug on the field trip, hopped in an (air conditioned) cab and headed home. A for effort.

After some down time at the hotel, we went out for an amazing noodle dinner. Briggs was indifferent to its amazing-ness and decided to have a mini-meltdown half way through, cutting short the first of many public outings we're sure.

Today we're going to (try to) see Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. Tomorrow we head home!

ps... Happy birthday, Uncle Lee!
