Well, our time in Taiwan has come to an end. We are sitting in the airport in Taipei waiting for our flight to Narita (Tokyo). We will pass through Minneapolis on the way home and see my parents, which will be nice.
Yesterday was a bit of a whirlwind. We spent the morning packing and hanging out at the hotel pool with Briggs (he's a natural in the breaststroke, I counted and he did 47 laps). We then headed with heavy hearts to the orphanage to drop him off.
As you might imagine, this part of the trip stunk. We took some solace in the fact that the people at the orphanage seem to be phenomenal, but it is still pretty tough to say goodbye to your son for an indefinite amount of time. Let's just hope that we get a "fast" judge and social worker assigned to our case.
We spent last night in Taipei and were fortunate to be taken to dinner by our friend Sylvia's aunt and uncle. They took us for soup dumplings and gave us a little tour of the city. It was a great distraction - thanks, Sly.
Back to the USA. We'll post all of our photos from this week soon.
